We are starting a new documentary project designed explore the creation and culture surrounding the UK music scene, through in-depth interviews with the people who were there. Why did the scene become such a place for those that didn't fit into mainstream culture and why did it become so influential given it's underground routes? Why has it been such an important space for excluded groups? Let's find out.

The project will collect stories from surviving artists, promoters and fans from the late 70s to the early 90s. This will be screened as a documentary, as well working with a selection of contributors for an oral histories and exhibition event.

We're also interest in hearing from anyone who has photos or music they'd be happy for us to include. Please note as a non-profit we're not in a position to pay fees for appearances and other items, however in due course we'd like to find funding for this project to hire in people from our training programmes who are drawn from backgrounds not widely represented in mainstream filmmaking in order to create their first opportunities.
